What's REALLY Going On Here?
"Right now your guess is as good as mine, but I'll let you know if I find something."
I sit here in the passenger seat inside a Tesla 3.
Yes, this is where I enjoy working from time to time.
Without a clue what to write about for this week’s entry.
And you what?
Fuck it.
Let’s change things up.
I’ve been trying to think of an interesting topic to dissect into.
And yet my attention is drawn elsewhere.
Helping my mom.
You see.
She just opened a new beauty salon.
Months ago instead of taking it as news and saying…
“Oh, that sounds great.“ then go about what I was doing.
I decide to take drastic action, helping her out as best as I can, with the skills and knowledge I’ve accumulated all these years.
It has not yet been a week of running ads for the business and I’ve produced a very nice 1,149% return on ad spend investment.
Imagine: putting $1 into a machine to get back $11 - recover your initial investment of $1 an extra $10 - and pay for whatever operational cost there is and take home the profit.
This got me thinking about something that’s been brewing for a few weeks.
It absolutely blows my mind:
How drastically a different experience I am having right now [being back home] compared to when I first left overseas a dozen years ago.
Objectively everything is the same.
The people.
The food.
The culture.
Objectively the environment is the same, and yet it is experienced in a completely different way due a shift in perspective.
A perspective that has largely been influenced by collected a vast amount of novel experiences.
A beautiful shift of season onto another…
To keep this entry short and sweet:
I encourage you to reflect back on your past [to seek out the valuable skillsets you possess and go out of your way] to contribute to another’s life in a way that will leave a drastic positive effect.
Do this every single day while you enjoy the passage of time.
When you take a moment for a break…
Look back on that trial and smile.
See ya on the mats,
POJ
